Background

Some people are just wired differently than me—that describes my client, Ross Haskell. He has a quick wit and used to perform improv, where they would play the game 185. It’s a fairly common improv exercise, and he wanted to transform it into a game. He described the game to me over a few calls, and then he told me some of his ideas of how the game could work as an app based game. And then he set me free. In true improv fashion, he wanted me to work fast and iterate as needed.

My task was to research, wireframe, and prototype the game. From there, he would shop it around with developers to see if he could get it built.

The original concept

This concept was neat, but quickly became too complex to build without some major investment in development and artwork.

Round two

The 2nd concept was simplified to be a text based game. Much easier to implement, but still gets the point across.

Final

For the final, I added visual design to the rough mockups, and storyboarded a promo video to be built in Adobe AfterEffects
